Jessica
Chen (Development Director) was born and raised in Hacienda Heights,
California. She has danced in various styles, from Chinese folk dance
to contemporary dance. She is a graduate of the University of California,
Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Global Studies (emphasis in Socio-economics
and Politics). While Jessica was at UCSB she performed in both the dance
department and in the Santa Barbara dance community. Since moving to NYC,
she has been a student at the Alvin Ailey School and on staff at Broadway
Dance Center. She has also performed with Earl Mosley’s Diversity
of Dance, and has performed works by Juan Rodriguez of Complexions Contemporary
Ballet. She has worked with Hong Kong pop artist Sheren Tang. Jessica
is currently a company member of The Vixens with choreographer Torey Nelson.
Jessica was the Development Director of a
non-profit organization called International Convention on Human Rights
(ICHR), under the direction of Kirk Boyd. She traveled to Geneva, Switzerland
and Strasburg, France to represent ICHR at the United Nations and European
Court on Human Rights. She also organized the first Human Rights Festival
in Santa Barbara to celebrate the non-profits in SB, and educated the
community on ways to get involved.
